Shiba Inu could receive a boost in Japan following the registration of a new cryptocurrency exchange operator backed by Nomura’s digital assets business.
Laser Digital Japan, the Japanese arm of Nomura-backed digital asset firm Laser Digital, announced that it has completed registration and is now authorized to operate as a crypto asset exchange service provider under Japan’s Payment Services Act.
A new milestone for $SHIB in Japan. 🇯🇵

The registration is notable because it reportedly marks the first new approval for a Japanese crypto asset exchange operator in four years. Japan has used the period to introduce several regulatory reforms affecting the digital asset industry, including rules around stablecoins and cryptocurrency services.
The development has attracted attention from the Shiba Inu community because the entry of a major financial institution-backed exchange could potentially increase the availability and legitimacy of digital assets within Japan’s regulated market.
Community member Kuro highlighted the development and its potential significance for SHIB’s position in the country. However, the exchange registration itself does not necessarily mean that Shiba Inu will automatically be listed on the platform.
Japan has been imposing relatively stringent regulations on crypto exchanges and listings of tokens. Crypto-related activities are subject to certain rules designed to protect investors and ensure transparency.
Meanwhile, the demand from institutional investors for digital assets is growing, with financial institutions buying cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and blockchain-related financial products.
Laser Digital is the digital asset subsidiary of Japanese financial giant Nomura, giving the latest registration additional significance for the country’s evolving crypto ecosystem.
The development could help create greater institutional participation in Japan’s digital asset market and potentially open the door to broader adoption of cryptocurrencies.
For Shiba Inu, investors will be watching whether the expansion of Japan’s regulated crypto infrastructure eventually results in additional exchange listings, greater liquidity or increased institutional exposure to the token.
