- The two most important U.S. macro events for cryptocurrency markets this week are PCE inflation and the September jobs data.
- From September 30 to October 1, Seoul will host significant blockchain industry events as part of Korea Blockchain Week 2026.
- On September 30, Base’s Cobalt upgrade, which includes new B20 and transaction features, is set to launch.
- On September 29, Hyperliquid’s HYPE unlock will release around 14.18 million HYPE.
Markets will closely watch the U.S. economic calendar as August PCE inflation data arrives on September 30, followed by the September jobs report on October 2. The JOLTS job-openings report is due September 29.
Because it is the Federal Reserve’s favored inflation indicator, the PCE price index is especially significant. Core PCE was 3.3%, while July PCE inflation was 3.7% year over year.
The releases follow the Federal Reserve’s September 16 increase of its federal funds target range to 3.75%–4.00%. Thus, expectations regarding future monetary policy may be influenced by new labor-market and inflation statistics.
Korea Blockchain Week Brings Crypto Industry Together
The main conference of Korea Blockchain Week 2026 is set for September 30 and October 1 in Seoul, making it one of the biggest industry events of the week.

There will be a lot more announcements on blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, products, and partnerships this week due to the larger event calendar, which also includes ecosystem events and partner gatherings. Dark Prague, the Wyoming Blockchain Stampede, and the Bitcoin Treasuries Conference in New York are more events.
Base Cobalt Upgrade Goes Live
Base is scheduled to activate its Cobalt upgrade on September 30 at 18:00 UTC. The upgrade introduces changes to Base’s B20 token standard, including support for transaction fees paid in B20 tokens and validity transactions that can keep transactions pending until specific onchain conditions are met. Base has also introduced a dynamic upgrade registry in metrics-only mode. Mainnet node operators are required to run version 1.4.2 or later.

HYPE & 2Z Token Unlocks Draw Attention
Two major token unlocks are also scheduled this week.
Hyperliquid’s HYPE unlock on September 29 is expected to release around 14.18 million HYPE, while DoubleZero’s 2Z unlock on October 2 is estimated at roughly 1.63 billion to 1.66 billion tokens.
The two events differ significantly in scale. HYPE’s release is notable for its estimated dollar value, while 2Z’s unlock represents a much larger share of its circulating supply.

Token unlocks do not automatically mean selling pressure, as newly unlocked tokens can remain in wallets or be transferred without being sold. The week combines macroeconomic data, major blockchain events, protocol upgrades and token-supply changes.
PCE inflation and the jobs report will provide fresh information about the U.S. economy, while Korea Blockchain Week and Base’s Cobalt upgrade bring crypto-specific developments into focus. HYPE and 2Z will add another supply-side event to an already busy calendar.
