- For qualified users, Payward and Ledger are integrating xStocks with Ledger Wallet.
- Users of xStocks will be able to maintain control over their private keys while managing tokenized shares through self-custody.
- Hundreds of tokenized US and foreign shares are anticipated to be supported by the integration.
Payward, the parent company behind Kraken, and Ledger are working on a deeper integration for xStocks, a range of tokens linked to stocks and exchange-traded funds.
According to Payward’s September 24 announcement, eligible customers will be able to buy, sell and transfer supported tokenized equities through Ledger Wallet while maintaining control of their private keys. The planned integration covers hundreds of tokens representing U.S. and international shares.

The partnership will also connect Kraken customers using Ledger devices with supported funding, withdrawal and transaction-signing features. Built with Ledger’s Device Management Kit, the integration will allow users to approve transactions from their hardware devices. Ledger’s Clear Signing technology will display transaction details before approval.
The companies have not announced a full launch date for all planned xStocks features.
Payward Expands Services Inside Ledger Wallet
The partnership goes beyond tokenized shares. Payward Services will also provide crypto purchases, sales and swaps within Ledger Wallet.
The initial payment options are expected to include debit cards and bank transfers in Europe and the U.K., with additional markets and payment methods planned.
Payward also plans to connect Ledger Enterprise customers, including banks and fintech companies, with exchange, custody, funding and payment infrastructure.
The xStocks expansion comes as tokenized equities gain traction across self-custody platforms. Bitget Wallet added 130 xStocks products for eligible users in May, while Kraken launched three xStocks vaults in September.
Payward said xStocks have surpassed $42 billion in cumulative transaction volume. The company is also working with the London Stock Exchange on plans involving tokens linked to 100 large London-listed companies, subject to regulatory approval.
Ledger Support Does Not Open xStocks To U.S. Users
Despite the focus on U.S.-listed stocks, xStocks remain unavailable to U.S. persons under Payward’s current product terms.
Owning an xStock also differs from directly owning the underlying stock. Token holders receive price exposure but do not receive shareholder rights such as voting or dividend rights. Payward identifies Backed Assets as the issuer of xStocks.
Separately, Payward and Nasdaq are developing Nasdaq Equity Tokens designed to retain rights attached to underlying securities, with the service targeted for the second quarter of 2027.
Payward is also pursuing a separate plan for regulated on-chain perpetual futures in the U.S., but that initiative remains subject to regulatory approval.
