Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party has received a combined £72 million, or around $97 million, from cryptocurrency billionaires Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne, in what has become the largest political donation ever made to a British political party.

Delo, the co-founder of cryptocurrency derivatives exchange BitMEX, announced a contribution of almost £36 million to Reform UK. Harborne subsequently matched the amount with an equivalent donation a day later, taking the combined contribution to approximately £72 million.

The size of the donations places the contributions among the most significant financial interventions in British politics. The money is expected to strengthen Reform UK’s ability to campaign and organize ahead of future political contests.

Harborne has previously donated to the party, giving £9 million in August 2025. In his latest contribution, he said Delo’s donation inspired him to match the amount.

Harborne stated in a piece published in The Telegraph that he did not anticipate receiving anything in exchange for the payment, such as a peerage or modifications to governmental regulations. His remarks coincide with increased attention being paid to significant political contributions and the power that affluent people have on political parties.

The contributions also show how politics and the bitcoin sector are increasingly interacting. In many nations, cryptocurrency investors and entrepreneurs have grown to be significant political contributors, especially as governments discuss rules pertaining to blockchain technology, financial markets, and digital assets.

The donation gives Reform UK a substantial financial boost during a period when political parties are vying for voter support and publicity.

The donations may also draw more attention to the political beliefs and policy interests of significant bitcoin investors. In political discourse, topics including taxes, digital asset legislation, financial innovation, and the UK’s role as a worldwide center for cryptocurrencies have grown in significance.

As a result, the combined gift from Delo and Harborne is noteworthy not just for its extraordinary magnitude but also for the more general issues it brings up regarding the influence of Bitcoin riches on British politics.

Harborne has stated that he does not anticipate receiving a direct return on the donation, thus the focus will probably continue to be on Reform UK’s use of the money and whether the donations have an impact on the broader political discussion surrounding digital assets and economic policy.
