  • Pakistan has established a specialized FIA crypto investigative team to fight financial fraud and criminality involving cryptocurrencies.
  • While PVARA continues to monitor cryptocurrency regulation, the new section will look into crimes involving digital assets, money laundering, and cryptocurrency fraud.
  • To improve enforcement across the country, FIA authorities have urged other government organizations to form dedicated crypto investigative teams.

Pakistan has taken another crucial step towards improving its digital asset ecosystem by establishing a dedicated cryptocurrency investigative team under the Federal Investigative Agency. The action is intended to help the nation’s expanding digital economy while fighting financial fraud, cybercrime, and other illicit activity involving cryptocurrency.

Local media state that the newly formed section will only look at crimes involving digital assets, including cyber fraud, money laundering, schemes involving cryptocurrency, and other financial offenses. The initiative supports the efforts of Pakistan’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA), which is still in charge of overseeing the nation’s cryptocurrency sector.

Pakistan’s efforts to create a more secure and open cryptocurrency economy are demonstrated by the establishment of a specialized enforcement team. Governments are increasingly balancing the growing global popularity of cryptocurrencies.

Pakistan Accelerates Crypto Regulation With Binance & HTX Licenses

According to reports, Muhammad Athar Waheed, Director of the FIA’s Counter-Terrorism Wing, urged other government organizations to set up comparable specialist teams in order to enhance collaboration in the fight against crimes involving cryptocurrency. Authorities could react to the quickly changing world of digital assets more skillfully with the aid of a specialized investigation framework.

In recent years, Pakistan’s cryptocurrency market has become one of the fastest-growing. Despite regulatory obstacles, PVARA Chairman Bilal Bin Saqib reported in December 2025 that Pakistan had the third-largest cryptocurrency market in the world based on retail activities, indicating growing public interest in digital assets.

The nation has made significant strides toward creating a formal regulatory structure. Major cryptocurrency exchanges, such as Binance and HTX, were granted operating licenses by regulators when PVARA was established in July 2025.

Pakistan Joins Global Push To Strengthen Crypto Crime Enforcement

Leaders in the field have voiced hope for Pakistan’s long-term cryptocurrency prospects. According to former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao, Pakistan might rank among the top cryptocurrency markets in the world by 2030 with the correct regulatory framework and increasing acceptance.

A larger worldwide tendency is reflected in the establishment of the FIA’s crypto investigative team. As cryptocurrencies become more and more integrated into the financial system, nations all over the world are setting up dedicated cybercrime and digital asset enforcement teams. These programs seek to enhance law enforcement capabilities without impeding the advancement of technology.
