The Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, an open-source AI model created for agentic workflows, has been released by NVIDIA, the largest firm in the world by market capitalization. Jensen Huang, the company’s CEO, has stated that open-weight AI models are essential to America’s leadership in AI.
The latest model in the Nemotron 3 model family, Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, which is intended for long-running agentic AI workloads, was introduced by the business in a blog post. The post stated, “Nemotron 3.5 Lightning, a 30-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model, helps create smarter and more efficient agentic applications, designed for specialized tasks within larger multi-agent systems.”

NVIDIA said that, in comparison to previous models in its class, the AI model is a completely adjustable open model that produces up to 4x quicker output speed, resulting in 30% faster agentic job completion. To increase accuracy for certain activities, users will be able to post-train the model using the company’s NeMo on an organization’s own domain data, tools, and processes.
Among the businesses that have previously tried and modified the approach are CrowdStrike, Harvey, and CodeRabbit. The model contains “weights, data, and recipes” and can be found on HuggingFace.
Following CEO Jensen Huang’s public endorsement of open-weight models, which he described as essential for America’s AI supremacy, Nemotron 3.5 Lightning was released.
The release of the AI model coincides with yesterday’s release of Meta’s open-weight Muse Glimmer AI Model. Last month, a number of tech companies, including Meta and NVIDIA, issued an open letter cautioning against U.S. limits on international open-weight AI models.
