Strategy Inc., led by Bitcoin supporter Michael Saylor, has stopped buying Bitcoin for now and added $225 million to its cash reserves. The company still holds 843,775 BTC, and its cash reserve is now $3.2 billion. This step does not mean Strategy is moving away from Bitcoin. Instead, it shows the company wants to keep its finances flexible and maintain strong liquidity while sticking to its long-term Bitcoin plan.

In its latest update for the week ending July 19, 2026, the company reported no new Bitcoin purchases. Its current Bitcoin holdings are worth about $54.6 billion, with average price of purchase around $64,780. By building up its cash reserves, Strategy is balancing its confidence in Bitcoin with the need to keep enough cash on hand.

The company’s latest Form 8-K filing shows it raised the extra $225 million by selling about 2.73 million Class A shares through at-the-market sales. Strategy has used this approach more often to improve its finances. Depending on the market, the money raised is used to buy more Bitcoin or boost cash reserves. In a previous week, the company sold around 4.8 million shares, bringing in about $467 million, most of which went to its cash reserve.

This increase in reserves is part of Strategy’s new Digital Credit Capital Framework, launched on June 29, 2026. The framework marks a move from only buying Bitcoin to managing capital with a more diverse financial approach.

A main part of the framework is a USD Reserve Policy, which means the company must keep enough cash to pay at least one year of preferred stock dividends and interest, now about $1.76 billion each year.

The framework also updates dividend rules for preferred shares, allows up to $1 billion each for preferred securities and stock buybacks, and includes a Bitcoin Monetization Program that lets the company sell up to $1.25 billion in Bitcoin if needed.

These steps aim to boost Strategy’s liquidity and credit strength, so the company does not have to sell Bitcoin when the market is weak. With the current cash reserve, Strategy’s available funds could reach almost $4 billion in some cases, enough to cover its financial needs for over two years.

Strategy still has one of the biggest corporate Bitcoin treasuries in the world. It owns about 4% of all the Bitcoin that will ever exist, with a total investment of around $63.7 billion, including fees. Over time, Strategy has sometimes bought Bitcoin aggressively and sometimes held back, showing it can adjust its approach based on the market.

Since starting its Bitcoin plan in August 2020, Strategy has changed from a business software company to one of the most recognized corporate Bitcoin investors. Many investors now see its shares as a way to get indirect exposure to Bitcoin.
