- Following an erratic launch on the Base network, Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP memecoin fell more than 97%.
- Hunter Biden denied making money off of LAPTOP, claiming that the team’s allocation is locked and attributing it to limited liquidity and sniper bots.
- Before launch, almost 42 million LAPTOP coins were transferred, including to market maker GSR and an unlabeled wallet, according to on-chain statistics.
- Some wallets reported six-figure losses, and about 80% of tracked dealers were apparently underwater.
Hunter Biden denies profiting from the $LAPTOP as thin liquidity, sniper bots and pre-launch token transfers fuel scrutiny after the memecoin’s spectacular collapse.
Hunter Biden’s laptop memecoin has had a fall not long after it started on Base. The coin lost more than 97% of its value. The project said that sniper bots, not money moving around and too much demand caused the big price changes.
According to the CoinMarketCap data, the laptop coin was selling for about $0.87 when this was written. That is down 97.66% in the 24 hours. The token went up to as much as $222 before it dropped fast. CoinMarketCap data shows a difference between when it first started and now.
As you may have seen, the LAPTOP memecoin saw a sharp swing in token price during its first hours of trading.
The headlines are all the same.
Token down 99%. Rug pull. Biden Crime Family. The list goes on.
This is far from the truth.
The reality is that available liquidity could not sustain the strong level of interest at launch. Technical issues coupled with predatory “snipers”, who seek to beat liquidity providers to market, caused a spike in price, which has since stabilized to healthy levels.
The team’s allocation is locked. Nobody on our side sold, and nobody could have. I, personally, have not made a single dollar.
I’m used to legacy news and social media trolls spinning realities to fit their own narrative.
The fully diluted valuation of the token is over $1 billion. And we’re actively working on the best solutions to optimize liquidity and continue engaging my community.
We gave free tokens to those who lost on Trump’s memecoin.
Somehow the media is painting that as a “failure”.
This journey is far from over. We built this community for the long game, and that’s exactly how we’re playing it. I’m going to keep doing what I do best: ignoring the noise, and reclaiming the narrative.

Hunter Biden pushed back against the criticism in an X post on September 10, saying the token’s sharp price swing was caused by insufficient liquidity, technical issues and “predatory” sniper bots.
The coin started at $0.05. Went up to more than $100 quickly because computer programs bought it fast.
The project said its initial liquidity was too thin to absorb the launch-day demand.
Hunter Biden Denies Making Money From LAPTOP
Hunter Biden said he personally made no money from the token and maintained that the founders could not sell their allocation. In a September 9 X post, Biden said the team’s allocation was locked and that “nobody on our side sold.” He also pointed to an FDV above $1 billion despite the collapse.

On-chain records show that a project‑tagged multisig wallet received 100 million LAPTOP tokens, which’s 10% of the one billion total supply before the launch. I notice that about 42.5 million LAPTOP tokens were distributed before trading began.
About 15.5 million tokens were sent to market maker GSR, while another 14.5 million moved to an unlabeled wallet shortly before launch. Such transfers can be part of normal market-making operations, but they have intensified questions surrounding the token’s launch.
Traders Suffer Six-figure Losses
The crash left a large majority of traders underwater.
Bubblemaps reported that roughly 80% of tracked wallets were losing money, with 12,151 of 15,206 traders in the red. Nansen separately recorded 46,675 buy transactions and 16,038 sells during the first 24 hours.
Some traders suffered six-figure losses. Nansen data showed one wallet with an estimated $199,000 loss, while another buyer holding about 28,400 LAPTOP tokens was down roughly $118,000.
The foundation said it would add 4 million tokens, or 0.4% of supply, to Aerodrome liquidity pools as incentives. It also scheduled a 10 million-token burn and reiterated that the 30% founder allocation is locked for six months before vesting over two years.
Our foundation’s account is suspended. The foundation isn’t stepping away from $LAPTOP. We are working on getting the account fixed. Until then the foundation is relaying its thoughts via Medium.
Here’s our breakdown of what happened and how we stabilized.

The project’s X account was later suspended, adding further uncertainty around the controversial launch.
