Airbnb Acquires AI Startup Gameplanner.AI
Airbnb has acquired AI startup Gameplanner, which aims to merge human ingenuity with AI efficiency to transform the travel industry. Gameplanner.AI, established in 2020, has been operating in “stealth mode” to protect intellectual property and minimize distractions.
Co-founder Adam Cheyer, known for his role in Siri and Viv Labs, is focusing on its incredible path. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky sees AI as a revolutionary force within the business, envisioning AI as a “travel concierge” who learns from people and improves travel experiences over time. This acquisition is Airbnb’s first big acquisition since 2019 and could signify a shift in Chesky’s M&A strategy. The company is profitable under GAAP and has an impressive $11 billion in cash and liquid assets as of the end of September.
