WLFI Announces Token Buybacks
World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has announced a token buyback program for the crypto project backed by the Trump family. The initial buybacks will come from fees within its USD1 stablecoin reserve.
The success of $USD1 and the growing WLFI ecosystem is helping us launch a new $WLFI token buyback program to strengthen the WLFI ecosystem and governance.
We plan to fund buybacks with an initial allocation that may include fees earned from USD1 reserves and other sources. We’ll start with an initial allocation and evaluate the program over time.
The goal is to encourage active participation in WLFI governance and consolidate voting power among our most committed long-term holders.
We intend for buybacks to be an ongoing part of our long-term strategy with the pace and scale guided by ecosystem growth and impact on governance participation.
We’re building for the long term, alongside the holders who share that vision. 🦅🦅🦅

The project stated in a post on X on November 6 that the buyback comes as the USD1 stablecoin grows and the WLFI ecosystem expands. The project will use available funds to buy WLFI tokens from the market. After initial allocation, they will look into how much they should buy back in the future.
The team commented they would implement the buyback as part of their long term strategy. However, it will depend on how much they want to buy back depending on how the ecosystem grows and how much it affects governance.
Project Seeks Higher Engagement
World Liberty Financial said one of the main goals of implementing the buyback is to increase engagement within WLFI’s governance and centralise the voting power. This will allow investors who are committed to the project to have higher voting power.
Zack Witkoff one of the co-founders of World Liberty Financial alongside the Trump family commented “Burn baby burn”. He also hinted there may be further announcements coming.
Crypto analyst Michaël van de Poppe was happy with the decision. He noted several other crypto assets have benefited from buyback programs such as HYPE, PUMP and UNI.
He believes WLFI can benefit from the increased demand. However, this is a bullish view from the market.
WLFI Token Struggles In Market
Despite the bullish news, WLFI has been struggling in the market. At the time of writing, the token is sitting around $0.047 according to CoinGecko data.
The token has fallen almost 8% in the last 7 days, 12% in the last two weeks and over 14% in the last 30 days. It is currently down over 60% compared to where it was a year ago and around 85% from its all-time high in September 2025.
However, after the news was released, there was increased trading volume with $115.3 million worth of WLFI being traded. This was up 96% from the previous day.
Other Trump related cryptos have struggled after the November 3 midterms. Both the Official Trump (TRUMP) and MELANIA tokens fell.
Although WLFI may receive some support from the buyback program. However, how much it will affect the token in the long run depends on how much they actually buy back.
