The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the federal regulator that oversees securities markets and investment advisers, will cover crypto assets at its National Compliance Seminar on November 19, 2026. The online event is aimed at investment advisers and investment companies. It will place digital assets alongside wider talks on compliance and investor protection.

Full Day Virtual Event Aimed At Compliance Leaders
The SEC’s published agenda shows the seminar running from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time. It is meant for chief compliance officers and other senior staff who want to tighten their compliance programs and strengthen safeguards for investors. Cybersecurity, private funds and compliance oversight are also on the schedule.
Crypto Session Closes Out The Agenda
Digital assets will be discussed in the last major session of the day, between 4:15 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. ET. Taylor Lindman, chief counsel of the SEC’s Crypto Task Force, is named as a participant. He will be joined by staff from the agency’s Divisions of Examinations and Investment Management.

The same session will also touch on superintelligence, internet advisers, transfer-agent matters and marketing. The SEC has not shared a crypto-specific outline, so it is unclear which regulatory questions or policy areas will come up.
Custody Proposal Moves Forward Separately
The seminar arrives while the SEC is working on a separate crypto custody proposal. Under it, parts of the Investment Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act would be revised. Among the changes, state trust companies could act as custodians if certain conditions are met.
The agency has not announced any new crypto rules or enforcement actions linked to the November 19 event. The session should not be taken as a sign that a specific regulatory change is close.
How To Watch & Take Part
The seminar will be livestreamed on SEC.gov, and no advance registration is needed. Attendees can send in questions before or during the event, giving advisers and compliance professionals a way to engage with the SEC’s discussion of digital assets.
