FSB Finalises AI Guidelines & Pushes For Smarter Financial Regulation
The FSB has finalised guidance on practices for the responsible adoption of AI in the financial sector. The guidance incorporates feedback from a consultation.
As AI adoption accelerates across services, regulators face the challenge of supporting innovation while addressing potential threats to financial stability. The FSB said responsible AI adoption will remain a part of the FSB agenda in 2027.
The organisation has also introduced a consultation report on supervisory modernisation. The report outlines principles designed to make financial oversight effective, efficient, risk-focused, and forward-looking.
The FSB’s accompanying note examines vulnerabilities associated with global stablecoin arrangements and the data authorities need to monitor their potential impact on financial stability.
These efforts follow the FSB’s 2023 recommendations on stablecoin arrangements. If implemented well, it could help authorities spot weaknesses and strengthen oversight, especially in many countries, as stablecoin activity grows.
FSB Reviews Bank Support & G20 Financial Reforms
The FSB is also submitting a peer review of public sector backstop funding mechanisms, identifying gaps in arrangements designed to provide temporary support to banks undergoing resolution.
Another report, the G20 Implementation Monitoring Review, assesses whether the FSB’s policy development process helps countries implement agreed financial reforms effectively. It follows an interim review published in October 2025.
