Meanwhile, a Bermuda-based Bitcoin life insurance company backed by Sam Altman, has raised $37.5 million in a funding round led by Bain Capital Crypto. The latest investment brings the company’s total funding to more than $180 million as it expands its Bitcoin-denominated insurance business beyond the United States.
Funding Round Draws Back Existing Investors
The round included existing investors Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures and Morgan Creek Digital. Bain Capital Crypto and Haun Ventures had previously co-led an $82 million funding round in October 2025. Meanwhile also closed a $40 million Series A in April 2025.
The company reported total assets of 1,183 BTC at the end of 2025, more than five times its holdings a year earlier, according to audited figures released in April. It also reported 759 BTC in statutory capital and surplus.

Meanwhile said its net long-term underwriting income had already exceeded the total recorded during the previous year and was on track to more than double in 2026. The company did not disclose an absolute figure for that income.
BTC Life 1-Pay Targets Non-U.S. Clients
Earlier in 2026, Meanwhile announced BTC Life 1-Pay, a single-premium whole-life insurance policy designed at high-net-worth clients outside the United States. The policy entails a one-time premium paid in Bitcoin and provides a guaranteed death benefit denominated in the cryptocurrency. After the first year, policyholders can derive up to 90% of the policy’s value without a settlement schedule or margin calls.
The product differs from the company’s BTC 10-Pay offering, which was developed specifically for U.S. taxpayers.
New Capital To Fuel International Expansion
The new funding is intended to support Meanwhile’s international expansion. The company has hired 15 broker partners as it develops distribution beyond the U.S. market. Its business chains regulated life insurance with a Bitcoin-denominated financial product, positioning the company at the connection of cryptocurrency ownership and long-term insurance planning.
