PayPal USD (PYUSD), a U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin from Paxos, is now available directly on the Polygon blockchain through the Polygon Open Money Stack. This expands regulated stablecoin payment options for businesses around the world.
With this integration, companies can accept payments, send money across borders, and convert stablecoins to local currencies using one platform that includes wallets, regulated fiat access, compliance tools, and cross-chain routing. Polygon says this makes global payments easier and lowers costs and settlement times for businesses.
Polygon says its network has already handled over $2.6 trillion in stablecoin transactions and now settles almost $3 billion in stablecoin payments daily. Big companies like Stripe and Revolut already use Polygon’s payment infrastructure.
Before this integration, businesses usually needed several providers for stablecoin issuance, compliance, fiat conversion, and settlement. Polygon says that supporting PYUSD natively makes things simpler by combining these services into one system.
The platform targets businesses that handle international payments, such as payroll providers paying overseas workers, global marketplaces settling with merchants, and remittance companies serving emerging markets. Now, businesses can accept payments by bank account, card, or exchange balance, transfer PYUSD internationally, and convert funds to local currencies with built-in compliance and regulated fiat access.
Paxos issues PYUSD under a national trust charter overseen by the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Polygon CEO Marc Boiron said businesses are no longer just asking if stablecoins are ready—they are now building new payment apps. Paxos Chief Revenue Officer Peter Jonas said this integration brings a federally regulated, dollar-backed stablecoin to one of the busiest stablecoin payment networks in the world.
