Northlands College Launches Metaverse Campus
Northlands College has become one of the few Canadian colleges to establish a full metaverse campus presence, marking a new era of transformational learning tools. The metaverse campus environment aims to build community, open geographic borders, and collapse time, with virtual lectures allowing learners from different time zones to follow experiential and in-person lectures on their own time. This achievement pushes the boundaries of education and technology integration across northern Saskatchewan, while reducing the environmental footprint.
Northlands College is launching a new metaverse campus, which will enhance learning experiences through virtual classrooms. Students are excited about the technology and anticipate increased engagement in networking. The metaverse’s lack of geographic borders allows for socialization with diverse backgrounds and cultures, including those of Indigenous descent, and expands the network.
