Prediction market platform Kalshi has asked the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) for approval to launch perpetual futures based on Hyperliquid’s HYPE token.
This expands Kalshi’s lineup of crypto perpetual products and follows its recent launch of Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetual futures for U.S. users. The filing also shows Kalshi and Hyperliquid are working more closely together, having recently teamed up for a major infrastructure upgrade.
At the same time, HYPE trading activity remains strong, with more open interest and growing attention from Wall Street and crypto traders.
With this filing, Hyperliquid joins a growing list of crypto assets that Kalshi hopes to offer as perpetual futures. Earlier, Kalshi submitted applications for products tied to Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin, Stellar, Hedera, and other major digital assets.
This is important because Kalshi and Hyperliquid have already worked together on a major HIP-4 infrastructure upgrade. Their partnership combined Kalshi’s regulated prediction and financial markets with Hyperliquid’s decentralized trading system.
Industry watchers see this filing as a sign that competition in the perpetual futures market is heating up. Kalshi is moving into areas usually led by big crypto exchanges like Binance, Coinbase, and Hyperliquid.
Market sentiment for HYPE is still positive. The token has recently gained value, and trading volume has gone up. Derivatives market data also shows more open futures positions, which suggests traders are staying active.
Citrini Research recently called HYPE an attractive investment, pointing to Hyperliquid’s strong revenue and token buybacks. The platform’s growing fee income has also helped it stand out in the crypto derivatives sector.
The CFTC is expected to keep reviewing perpetual futures products individually. If approved, HYPE perpetual futures could give U.S. traders another way to access one of the fastest-growing decentralized trading ecosystems.
