  • According to the allegations by the FCA, HTX was continuing to advertise its products despite a prior regulatory warning received in October 2023, with the FCA filing a case in October 2025 due to lack of response from HTX.
  • As per the secret deal between HTX and the FCA, HTX committed to not soliciting UK customers via any online platform including websites and apps and social media networks without admitting guilt.UK customers can no longer make new deposits or register accounts; existing users must follow HTX’s withdrawal process to recover their assets

FCA High Court Action

HTX, formerly known as Huobi, has settled High Court proceedings brought by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), agreeing to exit the British market entirely.

The FCA alleged that HTX continued to promote its crypto services to UK consumers after receiving a formal regulatory warning in October 2023. When HTX did not respond to the FCA’s subsequent inquiries, the regulator initiated High Court action in October 2025. The case has now been resolved through a confidential settlement.

Settlement Terms & HTX’s Non-admission

Under the terms of the settlement, HTX agreed not to target, solicit, or actively seek UK consumers through any channel  including its website, mobile apps, or social media accounts.

HTX did not admit wrongdoing as part of the agreement. No financial penalty amount was publicly disclosed, suggesting the settlement’s primary remedy is the cessation of UK-directed activity rather than a monetary fine.

Impact On UK Customers

UK consumers can no longer make new deposits on HTX, and new UK-based users cannot register accounts. Existing UK customers with assets on the platform are being directed to follow the withdrawal instructions on HTX’s website to retrieve their funds.

The FCA confirmed that HTX is no longer active in the UK. The outcome is consistent with the FCA’s broader push to remove non-compliant or unregistered crypto firms from accessing British consumers.
