Google Will Allow NFT Gaming Ads

From next month, Google will accept NFT gaming advertising as long as they do not promote gambling content.

This will change on September 15th, when Google releases its amended advertising policy for cryptocurrencies and blockchain-based games.

Advertisers must comply with Google’s gambling and games policy, obtain the necessary Google advertising certification, and meet particular conditions in order for their advertising to be accepted.

Acceptable NFT game examples include those that allow players to purchase in-game stuff such as virtual apparel and weaponry to enhance their experience or help them progress.

Advertisers who run NFT game advertising will be able to access a hitherto untapped market, dramatically increasing their reach and potential viewership.

Google will ban game ads that allow players to wager NFTs, promote social casino games, and promote “real money gambling” destinations. Violations will not result in immediate account suspension, but will be accompanied by a warning.

Google is implementing a new policy to provide clearer guidelines for advertising blockchain-based games with NFTs, as part of its ongoing policy update on cryptocurrencies and related products.
