The European Central Bank (ECB) is working on creating a digital euro. It is now asking experts to help design how it will work in daily life.

The ECB wants people to use the digital euro in shops and ATMs. This means people can pay using it just like cash or cards. It also wants to support offline payments.

This project’s technical development is almost finished. However, European MPs’ consent is required for the final decision to be made.

The digital euro might be introduced by 2029 if it is allowed. It will be a digital currency supported by the government.

Private banks are simultaneously developing digital tokens of their own. As a result, the market becomes competitive.

The digital euro aims to provide a safe and reliable payment option. It will also help reduce dependence on private digital currencies.

This project shows how central banks are adapting to new technology. As digital payments grow, governments also want to stay relevant.
