Cardano is preparing for a major upgrade to boost scalability and performance. Input Output Global has shared a step-by-step plan for the Leios upgrade, which is expected to be fully launched by the end of 2026.
The upgrade is meant to greatly increase the number of transactions Cardano can handle, with estimates rising from less than 1 million to tens of millions each month over the next few years. This would help solve the scalability problems many blockchains face.
Leios is built to increase throughput without changing Cardano’s main consensus system, enabling it to scale up while remaining secure. The plan also includes better tools and infrastructure to help address adoption challenges.
Another goal is to make things easier for developers. Input Output Global admits there are onboarding challenges and has suggested ways to simplify the process and make the ecosystem more accessible.
If the upgrade works as planned, Cardano could become stronger in the competitive blockchain space as more people seek faster, more efficient networks. The next few months will be key as the project moves into testing and more development.
