  • According to Binance data, 76% of Gen Z bStocks accounts are net accumulators, indicating that younger investors are more concerned with purchasing and holding.
  • According to Binance’s research, Gen Z is the least active trading generation, averaging only three trades each month.
  • As more investors enter the market, worries about scarcity are being exacerbated by Bitcoin’s 21 million BTC supply cap.
  • Less than 1 million Bitcoin remain to be issued after more than 20 million have already been mined.

New Binance research challenges the idea that Gen Z investors are mainly focused on short-term, high-risk trading. At the same time, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has renewed attention on Bitcoin’s limited supply, warning that even millionaires could eventually struggle to afford one whole BTC.

According to Binance research, 76% of Gen Z stocks accounts are net accumulators, the highest share among the generations studied. Gen Z users average only three trades per month, making them the least active trading group. In direct equities, 22% of Gen Z accounts have never placed a sell order.

The data also shows that younger investors largely avoid leverage. Some 88.2% of Gen Z TradFi Perps accounts and 98.9% of Gen Z bStocks accounts recorded no leveraged or inverse ETF activity. This suggests that many younger users may be taking a longer-term approach rather than constantly chasing short-term market moves.

Gen Z Is Shifting From High-risk Trading To Bitcoin Accumulation

Several young traders from Generation Z who were interviewed by Binance talked about how their time in the world of cryptocurrency changed the way they invest. Some of them stopped focusing on digital coins and using a lot of borrowed money to trade. Instead, they started buying Bitcoin using planned approaches and being more careful with the risks they take.

There are a lot of millionaires in the world. In fact, there are more millionaires than there are Bitcoin. Bitcoin is capped at 21 million. There are about 58 million millionaires in the world. If we gave one Bitcoin to each millionaire, we would not have enough Bitcoin to go. Every millionaire cannot own one Bitcoin even if we distributed all the Bitcoin equally among them. The number of Bitcoin is just not enough for every millionaire to have one Bitcoin.

Bitcoin Scarcity Is Growing As Supply Nears 21 Million

However, this does not mean millionaires will literally be unable to buy Bitcoin. Bitcoin is divisible into 100 million satoshis, allowing investors to purchase fractions of a coin. CZ’s argument is therefore mainly about the scarcity of whole-Bitcoin ownership, rather than access to Bitcoin itself.

The situation becomes more complicated when lost and dormant coins are considered. Bitcoin that has been permanently lost or held in long-term wallets may not be available to the market, making the effective supply smaller than the headline circulating figure.

Still, scarcity alone does not guarantee higher prices. Demand, liquidity, institutional adoption, regulation, and investor behavior will continue to determine Bitcoin’s market value.

Taken together, Binance’s Gen Z data and CZ’s scarcity argument point to an evolving market. Younger investors appear increasingly comfortable accumulating assets rather than constantly trading them, while Bitcoin’s fixed supply continues to make fractional ownership more relevant. As demand grows and new supply slows, owning one full Bitcoin could become increasingly uncommon, even among wealthy investors.
