  • Jeff Bezos-backed Prometheus has emerged publicly with a $41 billion valuation after securing $12 billion in Series B funding, making it one of the most valuable AI startups in the market.
  • Prometheus aims to transform engineering and product development through AI-powered design tools, with Bezos claiming the technology could reduce innovation and manufacturing cycles by up to 10 times.
  • The startup is targeting industries including aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare, consumer electronics, and pharmaceuticals, while investing heavily in computing infrastructure and top AI talent from leading firms such as OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and Nvidia.

Jeff Bezos has finally returned to the artificial intelligence spotlight with the public presentation of Prometheus, a much-anticipated AI startup that has already raised a record $12 billion in Series B funding.

Strong confidence from some of the biggest financial institutions and technology investors in the world is shown by the investment round, which places the company’s worth at an incredible $41 billion.

Reports circulated in November of last year that Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, was returning to the game with Project Prometheus, a new AI business.

And now, with a huge investment round, the former head of Amazon has finally pushed the new startup, now known as Prometheus, out of the shadows.

Bezos and Vik Bajaj, a former Google executive, co-founded it and are now co-chief executives. Major investors, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, and Bezos himself, reportedly participated in the most recent investment round.

Prometheus was established in November 2025 with an initial investment of about $6.2 billion, with the goal of revolutionizing the way engineers create, develop, and produce tangible goods.

The startup wants to drastically shorten the time needed for intricate engineering and innovation cycles by utilizing artificial intelligence.

Prometheus Wants To Make Innovation 10x Faster

Bezos stressed the technology’s potential significance while being cautious about disclosing specifics while discussing the startup’s aim. It was “premature” to reveal the work completed thus far, he told a well-known journal, “but it’s really quite remarkable.”

Bezos outlined the scope of the issue Prometheus seeks to resolve while highlighting the difficulties encountered by conventional engineering procedures.

“If you go to a current jet engine manufacturer and say you want the exact same engine but with 10% more thrust, it could be a 10-year program,” Bezos told a famous journal. “Because it’s so complicated, not because they’re lazy or poor at their jobs.

“He further stated, “So what we’re doing is building a set of tools that will empower engineers to compress that cycle time and make that dream-build loop be 10 times faster or even more.”

Prometheus Targets Multiple Industries

Prometheus may potentially benefit a number of industries, including manufacturing, aircraft, consumer electronics, medical devices, and pharmaceutical research, according to industry observers.

Reports indicate that the company’s AI-powered tools might help everything from advanced drug development to engineering design, despite the fact that the company has not made its products publicly available.

With offices in San Francisco, London, and Zurich, Prometheus presently employs over 150 people. According to reports, the business has drawn staff from top tech companies, including Nvidia, Google DeepMind, and OpenAI.

Access to processing power, a resource that is becoming more and more important for the development of AI, will be the primary focus for the organization. Bezos admitted that the company’s fundraising efforts were significantly impacted by the requirement for massive computing infrastructure.

Jeff Bezos Shares Why Prometheus Needs Billions In Funding

Bezos clarified that Prometheus’s AI work necessitates massive amounts of data and processing capacity, which is one of the primary reasons the company received so much money.

“What we’re doing is very compute intensive and we need to create that data, which is one of the reasons we’ve had to raise a significant amount of funding,” Bezos stated.

He made it clear that Prometheus is being developed separately from Blue Origin and Amazon, even though both businesses may someday utilize its technology. Bezos stated that Prometheus was purposefully established as a distinct business with its own staff, focus, and objective, and he mentioned Blue Origin as a potential future client.

Since taking over as CEO of Amazon in 2021, Bezos has focused more on developing technology, including artificial intelligence and aerospace projects.
