The Bahamas Maritime Authority has launched a blockchain-powered Digital Seafarer Record Book designed to replace traditional paper-based maritime documentation. The platform enables seafarers to securely store, verify, and share service records through a fully digital system.

Key features include digital discharge certificates, QR-code verification, secure identity validation, and real-time record sharing. Officials say the platform improves efficiency while reducing administrative burdens for seafarers, shipping companies, and maritime authorities.

The system was tested through a pilot program involving Carnival Cruise Line and identity verification provider IDSure. Authorities believe the technology will improve record integrity and support broader modernization efforts across the maritime industry.
