Polymarket Launches Private Company Prediction Markets With Nasdaq Partnership

Polymarket, a crypto prediction platform, has introduced a new type of prediction market for private companies through a partnership with Nasdaq’s private market division.

This new offering lets users bet on major events involving private companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceX, and Ripple.

With this partnership, Nasdaq Private Market will supply the official data to settle Polymarket contracts. The new markets will cover valuation milestones, IPO dates, and secondary-market activity for private companies.

Polymarket says this launch gives retail traders access to a part of finance that was previously out of reach. The platform notes that almost 1,600 unicorn startups worldwide are now worth over $5 trillion combined, but access has mostly been limited to venture capital firms, institutions, and wealthy investors.

The company believes that prediction markets offer everyday traders a new way to get involved in private-market events without owning company shares.

Shayne Coplan called prediction markets a strong way to make financial information and opportunities more accessible. He said the new markets will give users a clear way to take part in events that affect some of the world’s most important private companies.

One of the first contracts focuses on Anthropic’s valuation. Early data from the platform suggests many expect the AI company could reach a trillion-dollar valuation by year’s end.

Industry analysts say this could create a new way to discover prices in private markets, which are usually less transparent than public stocks. Because private company values often come from funding rounds or secondary sales, prediction markets might offer real-time insight into what investors think.

This launch highlights rising interest in combining blockchain-based financial products with popular investing trends such as artificial intelligence, private equity, and pre-IPO speculation.
