Vitalik Buterin has committed 16,384 ETH, worth roughly $45 million, to personally fund long-term Ethereum development initiatives.
The funds will be directed toward projects focused on security, privacy, decentralization and core open-source infrastructure.
Buterin said the Ethereum Foundation is entering a phase of mild austerity while continuing its core protocol roadmap and research priorities.
The ETH will be deployed gradually over several years across governance tools, secure hardware development and privacy-focused applications.
The move highlights Buterin’s continued hands-on involvement in Ethereum’s evolution as competition among layer-1 blockchains intensifies and regulatory scrutiny of crypto ecosystems increases globally.
