Iris Energy Ramps Up Mining Capacity

Iris Energy Limited has purchased new T21 miners from Bitmain Technologies Delaware Limited for $18.6 million, aiming to increase its self-mining capacity to 8.3 EH/s. The deal includes a delayed payment plan, allowing Iris Energy to defer some costs until May 30, 2024.

The miners are expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2021. The company is also investing in infrastructure, expanding its Childress site’s capabilities with an 80MW extension to an existing data center and procuring another data center project to leverage its 600MW power capacity. These expansions aim to increase Iris Energy’s total mining capacity to 10 EH/s.
