Google Play Cracks Down On Offensive AI Content
Google has updated its developer policies for Android apps on the Play Store to address concerns about potential misuse of AI. Starting next year, the company will implement new guidelines for content on the PlayStore, aiming to promote responsible use of AI.
Android apps incorporating generative AI will be subject to new requirements, including a dedicated button for users to flag or report objectionable content and new rules about what kind of AI content is allowed.
The new AI-generated content policy will apply to various AI apps, such as chatbots, image generators, and video or audio creators featuring real people. However, apps that host, summarize, or use AI as a productivity feature are not covered by the policy.
Google’s goal is to improve Android app quality, safety, and privacy, creating a more secure and reliable user experience.
