Bitpanda Gets License in Norway
One of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges in Europe, Bitpanda, which has its headquarters in Vienna, is one of the first international organizations to be granted a virtual asset service provider license in Norway. On October 19, the company’s official X account posted the announcement.
Bitpanda, an investment platform, has been granted licenses in several European jurisdictions, including Austria, Germany, France, Czechia, and Sweden. The company’s deputy CEO, Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad, stated that Bitpanda is a trusted investment platform in Europe, having received licenses in Germany, Sweden, and Norway. With over 4 million users, Bitpanda enables leading financial institutions and neobanks to offer digital assets. In May 2023, Norway’s central bank suggested that the upcoming pan-EU Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation may not be sufficient for all crypto regulatory needs, signaling its potential to go its own way on crypto asset regulation.
