TN Introduces AI-Based System For Elephant Safety
The Ettimadai-Walayar section of the Ettimadai-Walayar railway line, which connects Tamil Nadu and Kerala, is the site of Tamil Nadu’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-based early warning system. Pachyderms will benefit from an additional layer of defense.
Five e-surveillance towers were installed along the twin single line’s ‘A’ line and seven were installed along the ‘B’ line, according to authorities with the Forest Department. Thermal imaging cameras have been installed on every tower along the “A” line, where a control room has also been set up, to detect elephant activity. The ‘B’ line’s camera-fixing and networking-related work is almost finished. They stated that the contractor is anticipated by the department to finish the work quickly.
Trial runs will be conducted to assess the efficiency of the hardware and software of the AI-based early warning system, according to S. Ramasubramanian, Conservator of Forests and Field Director of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
