Total Share of AI/ML Workforce In Telcos At 20%
Telecom service providers are seeing a rise in AI/ML-led jobs, with 2096 of their workforce now comprised of AI/ML-led professionals, compared to 79 in July-September 2022. This trend is expected to continue through fiscal 2024, with the proportion of AI/ML-led jobs expected to reach 2396. These jobs cover various profiles, including network security and customer service.
The demand for Artificial Intelligence (AI) talent is increasing due to a shortage of skilled professionals in sectors like telecom, information technology, manufacturing, and fintech. AI professionals are crucial for fraud detection, risk evaluation, algorithmic trading, and customer service chatbot deployment. Roles in demand include machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI infrastructure engineer, network optimization specialist, cybersecurity expert, and AI solution architect. Recruitment in AI across telcos has seen a quarter-on-quarter growth of nearly 12-15%, with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel focusing on AI due to the rollout of next-generation 5G services.
