AI Cameras Helped Curb Accidents In Kerala
According to Transport Minister Antony Raju, the number of traffic rule breaches in the State has decreased from 4.50 lakh per month to 2.50 lakh after the installation of AI-enabled cameras along its roads in June.
According to him, this plus the lower two-wheeler speed limits contributed to a decrease in accidents and fatalities of almost 300 between June and August 2023 and the corresponding time in 2022.
A curriculum with fundamental road safety guidelines had been given to the Education department with the intention of fostering a culture of road safety awareness. After officially launching Project for Accident-Free Campus Environment (PACE) at the SCMS College of Engineering and Technology, Karukutty, he stated that this would assist individuals who had completed higher secondary school in submitting an application for a driver’s licence without further delay.
According to him, the PACE project would include all 100 engineering colleges in the State. On that day, he also unveiled the IDTR extension centre, which is headquartered in Edappal, at the SCMS Institute for Road Safety and Transportation (SiRST).
