Google Tests AI-Powered Proofread Feature

According to reports, Google is testing a Gboard with an integrated proofreading capability that is powered by artificial intelligence. Only a few users have access to the beta version 13.4 of the AI-powered keyboard.

The AI-powered Gboard, according to reports from 9To5Google, examines the text for spelling, grammatical, and punctuation mistakes and uses generative AI to correct them.

According to reports, the keyboard’s toolbar has a proofreading capability. A new version of the text appears once the text has been processed for spelling, grammatical, and punctuation checks. The user can use the thumbs-up option to replace the original text with the changed version if they think the edited text looks good. If not, click the thumbs-down icon to reject the modifications.

A prompt explaining that “The text that is proofread will be sent to Google and temporarily processed to create grammar and writing suggestions” will appear on the keyboard when you click the new feature, which at first appears as a “Fix it” button in the Gboard toolbar. By using this function, you can correct your grammar within the app itself rather than using Grammarly or other third-party apps like Bard or ChatGPT.
