Final approval came approximately 11 months after in-principle approval was granted in November 2025, which had been subject to conditions. Finance Magnates noted this timeline compares favorably with eToro’s approximately 14-month path to full licensing in ADGM.
ADGM’s Growing Financial Hub
Abu Dhabi Global Market had 190 fund and asset managers by the end of June 2026, representing a 23% year-over-year increase. The FSRA granted 45 permissions across all categories in the first half of 2026. Finance Magnates’ license monitor counts 423 active ADGM licenses compared to 4,176 at Dubai’s DFSA, indicating the relative scale of each emirate’s financial center.
Minh Do, senior executive officer at Animoca’s asset management unit, called the approval a milestone allowing management of collective investment funds under a robust regulatory framework.
Animoca’s Regional Expansion
The ADGM approval adds to Animoca Brands’ growing regional regulatory footprint. In February 2026, the company secured a Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority license for broker-dealer and management services in virtual assets.
Arvind Ramamurthy, chief market development officer at ADGM, said the move strengthens connections between institutional capital and digital assets in the region.
Animoca Brands is the developer of The Sandbox metaverse and the Moca Network, with reported stakes in more than 600 companies and digital assets globally. No fund name or target fund size was disclosed in the announcement.
