The FCA alleged that HTX continued to promote its crypto services to UK consumers after receiving a formal regulatory warning in October 2023. When HTX did not respond to the FCA’s subsequent inquiries, the regulator initiated High Court action in October 2025. The case has now been resolved through a confidential settlement.
Settlement Terms & HTX’s Non-admission
Under the terms of the settlement, HTX agreed not to target, solicit, or actively seek UK consumers through any channel including its website, mobile apps, or social media accounts.
HTX did not admit wrongdoing as part of the agreement. No financial penalty amount was publicly disclosed, suggesting the settlement’s primary remedy is the cessation of UK-directed activity rather than a monetary fine.
Impact On UK Customers
UK consumers can no longer make new deposits on HTX, and new UK-based users cannot register accounts. Existing UK customers with assets on the platform are being directed to follow the withdrawal instructions on HTX’s website to retrieve their funds.
