Raydium has expanded LaunchLab to support trading between any token pair on Solana, giving token creators more flexibility in choosing the asset used for their new markets. LaunchOnSF’s StonkFun is the first integration to use the new system. The update allows newly launched tokens to be paired with supported quote tokens instead of relying on a fixed pairing structure. Raydium says the change can create more flexible markets, improve liquidity options and reduce costs for memecoin launches.

The change marks another step in Raydium’s effort to remain competitive in Solana’s increasingly crowded token-launch and decentralised exchange market.

Under the new system, creators can choose the quote token for a LaunchLab deployment. This means a new token does not necessarily have to be paired with one of the standard assets normally used for Solana launches.

LaunchOnSF said its StonkFun platform is the first partner to bring the feature into production. The integration required changes to Raydium’s programmes, trading terminals and aggregators so that custom quote tokens could work properly across the trading infrastructure.

The updated system supports permissionless deployments, bonding curves and constant-product market-maker pools. LaunchOnSF also said the deployment cost through StonkFun has fallen to 0.03 SOL from 0.29 SOL. It said liquidity-provider fees can also be directed back into liquidity.

Developers do not have to rely on StonkFun’s API to launch tokens. They can construct the relevant transactions themselves, giving projects more control over how their launches are organised.

The change comes after a period of intense competition between Raydium and other Solana trading platforms. Pump.fun, which had historically relied on Raydium for liquidity after tokens completed their bonding curves, launched its own PumpSwap decentralised exchange in March 2025.

That move changed an important flow of liquidity on Solana. Tokens completing Pump.fun’s bonding curves could now move directly into PumpSwap pools rather than automatically migrating to Raydium.

Raydium responded with LaunchLab, which went live in April 2025. The platform allowed users to create, customise and trade tokens, while projects crossing its original graduation threshold could move into Raydium’s AMM infrastructure.

The latest LaunchLab update takes the competition a step further by making the choice of quote asset more flexible.

StonkFun said it had already recorded more than $392 million in trading volume, including around $219 million routed through Raydium. The platform also reported $1.21 million in revenue and more than $5.35 million in rewards distributed to ecosystem holders.

The broader Solana market remains highly active, with several decentralised exchanges competing for traders and liquidity. Raydium continues to be one of the network’s major trading venues despite the emergence of PumpSwap and other competitors.

For token creators, the ability to choose different trading pairs could make LaunchLab more attractive. Instead of building every new market around a predetermined quote asset, projects can choose a token that already has relevance within their community.

That may sound like a small technical change, but in the fast-moving memecoin market, flexibility can make a significant difference. The success of the new model will ultimately depend on whether creators and traders actually use the additional choices Raydium is now offering.
