Empery Digital sold 1,635 Bitcoin for $102.2 million between July 1 and Aug. 6, cutting its total holdings to 1,279 BTC, according to an Aug. 7 SEC filing.

Of such amount, 325 BTC were derived and unconstrained, while 954 BTC were still committed to a lender.

The Nasdaq-listed company’s Bitcoin treasury has been drastically reduced, according to the most recent statement. On June 30, Empery possessed 2,914 BTC, of which 1,375 were uncontrolled. As a result, in little over five weeks, the available pool decreased by 1,050 BTC, or around 76.4%.

Empery has already sold 1,167 BTC for $80.1 million in the first half of 2026 before the transactions in July and August. The petition states that based on the initial cost of the Bitcoin sold, those prior disposals resulted in a $56.8 million realized loss.

Additionally, the most recent numbers surpass the company’s July 10 report. After selling 1,400 BTC since May 7, Empery claimed to have 1,514 BTC and around $73.9 million in cash at that time. The corporation stated that those earnings were used for debt payments, a planned property acquisition, legal fees, and operations, as crypto.news revealed in previous July coverage.

Additionally, the document illustrates how the Treasury sales fit within a larger framework for capital allocation. At an average price of $5.71, Empery has repurchased 26.24 million shares for $149.7 million to August 6. The corporation said that the repurchases were financed in part by Bitcoin sales and $105 million in borrowing proceeds. In the first half, digital asset losses came to $106.3 million, or 87% of operating costs.

Compared to the company’s initial treasury expansion, that represents a significant shift. As part of its plan to increase its exposure to Bitcoin, Empery revealed in August 2025 that it had over 4,000 BTC. Its balance sheet now includes debt reduction, share repurchases, new infrastructure projects, and a far smaller Bitcoin reserve.

After June 30, Empery reduced outstanding borrowings from $55 million to $35 million by repaying an additional $20 million under its master loan agreement. Pledged collateral dropped from 1,539 BTC to 954 BTC when the lender refunded 585 BTC.

There are still strict collateral requirements for the loan. A February change shortened the time to restore collateral at the liquidation threshold to 12 hours and set the collateral call level at 153% and the liquidation level at 143%. Following a collateral call in February, Empery had already provided 576 BTC, and following a call in June, it provided an additional 186 BTC. The corporation was already selling Bitcoin while lowering debt and buying back shares, according to related March reports.
