Strategy, the company formerly known as MicroStrategy, sold 1,638 Bitcoin worth about $104.7 million during the week ending August 2, while increasing its USD reserve to $4 billion and expanding its STRC preferred stock buyback programme to $81.2 million. The company also raised an additional $290.6 million by issuing new common shares.

The latest moves show Strategy balancing its Bitcoin treasury, shareholder commitments and cash reserves, even as it continues to maintain one of the world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holdings.

According to the company’s latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Bitcoin sale reduced its total holdings to 842,138 BTC. Strategy said it acquired this Bitcoin at an average purchase price of $75,419 per coin, while the latest sale was completed at an average price of around $63,957 per Bitcoin.

The proceeds from the sale were used for multiple purposes. A significant portion went towards paying dividends on the company’s preferred shares, while another part funded the repurchase of 912,143 STRC preferred shares under its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Programme. In total, Strategy spent $81.2 million buying back STRC shares, with the remaining funds coming from the proceeds of its recently issued common stock.

The company also strengthened its liquidity by transferring $250 million into its USD reserve, taking the total reserve to $4 billion. Strategy said the larger reserve is designed to support future financial obligations and improve the company’s cash position without relying entirely on Bitcoin sales.

To raise fresh capital, Strategy issued just over three million new MSTR common shares during the week, generating net proceeds of $290.6 million. Besides funding the reserve and the STRC buyback, a smaller portion of the money was added to the company’s general cash balance.

Despite selling Bitcoin below its average acquisition cost, Strategy reaffirmed its commitment to its preferred shareholders. The company announced that STRC’s annual dividend rate will remain at 12% and said it has no plans to recommend a reduction until the preferred shares consistently trade close to their stated value of $100.

The filing also highlights a noticeable shift in Strategy’s recent treasury management. After aggressively accumulating Bitcoin through much of early 2026, the company has now recorded several consecutive weeks of net Bitcoin sales.

Rather than signalling a change in its long-term Bitcoin strategy, the recent transactions appear to be focused on meeting dividend commitments, repurchasing preferred shares and strengthening the company’s cash reserves while maintaining financial flexibility.
