Ripple partners with Cross River Bank To Bring RLUSD Stablecoin Into Payments Ecosystem. The two firms plan to collaborate on facilitating blockchain-based transactions and utilizing stablecoins in conjunction with traditional banking products and services.
What Is RLUSD & Why Are Stablecoins A Good Thing?
As mentioned above, RLUSD is a stablecoin issued by Ripple that is intended to hold value equivalently to the U. S. dollar. Stablecoins are a digital asset category that seek to provide the flexibility and fluidity of a cryptocurrency, while being relatively stable in value, in contrast to Bitcoin or XRP.
RLUSD payments are becoming part of the banking infrastructure fintechs already use.
We’re partnering with @CrossRiverBank to integrate RLUSD on the XRP Ledger into its core banking platform, providing 24/7 settlement within payment networks and greater flexibility to settle intraday.

How Will Cross River Bank Utilize The Stablecoin?
Per the announcement, Cross River Bank will incorporate RLUSD into its infrastructure, and facilitate transactions of the stablecoin, as well as the XRP Ledger. The two parties also plan to provide Dollar-Ripple conversions, which will enable funds to flow between the U. S. dollar and RLUSD.
🪙 We’re excited to announce that we’re partnering with @Ripple to expand our stablecoin optionality and integrate RLUSD into our banking core infrastructure, with support for transactions on the XRP Ledger.
Together, we’re combining traditional payment technology with RLUSD on the XRPL, giving issuers and acquirers greater flexibility to settle intraday and reduce settlement latency. By bringing stablecoins’ programmability and near-instant settlement into the same environment as traditional rails, we’re creating a unified payments experience where businesses can leverage the strengths of both.
We’re proud to enable faster payment capabilities and give our partners greater choice and flexibility.

The two firms intend to offer payments products incorporating RLUSD, including cross-border transactions, automated clearing and other payment services. As a financial technology company, Cross River Bank offers banking-as-a-service solutions to businesses, and utilizing digital assets could streamline some of these processes.
Stablecoin Payments Promise Efficiency
Blockchain-based transactions, particularly those involving stablecoins, are being explored by banks and other financial institutions, as a means to enable seamless payments outside of traditional banking hours. Additionally, utilizing digital assets for payments could potentially streamline the number of intermediaries that have to approve a transaction, in order to clear funds from one account to another.
That being said, the adoption of a stablecoin is not necessarily a blanket improvement. The efficiency of any blockchain-based payment method will depend on the infrastructure of the bank or financial institution adopting it, as well as their available corridors, liquidity pools and customer offerings.
Bridging The Divide Between Digital Assets & Traditional Finance
This collaboration is another step toward the convergence of traditional finance and the digital asset economy. From Ripple’s perspective, this partnership enhances the potential utility of its stablecoin offering, beyond simply a cryptocurrency trading product.
For Cross River Bank, the partnership is an opportunity to incorporate a stablecoin into its financial services infrastructure, exploring potential utility in conventional settlements.
