Polygon zkEVM Completes Dragonfruit Update

Polygon announced the successful completion of its Dragonfruit upgrade, which was scheduled for release on 20 September, marking the successful completion of its network upgrade, which was expected to add numerous new features.

Polygon zkEVM Mainnet Beta has been updated with the latest Solidity version, ensuring compatibility with the EVM by supporting the latest EVM opcode PUSH0. This update could have increased network activity, but it did not. The Dragonfruit update did not positively impact the rollup, as zkEVM’s key metrics remained low, such as a downturn in daily active addresses and transactions. This could have impacted the rollup’s overall performance.

Polygonscan’s data shows a sharp decrease in the rollup’s daily gas usage and captured value since late August, indicating less network activity. However, the ecosystem appears to have grown over the months, with the total number of unique depositors increasing.
