DYDX Set To Launch Private Testnet

On March 28, DYDX will deploy a private testnet of its blockchain powered by Cosmos, which will be accessible to some third parties for the first time.

The decentralised exchange is now transitioning from StarkEx, a Layer 2 Ethereum network created by StarkWare, to its own application-specific blockchain in the Cosmos ecosystem. The five-stage plan emphasises gradual testing prior to a final rollout.

The exchange ran a testnet internally for its own developers in stage two to verify all of its fundamental capabilities. In the third stage, a private testnet will be made available to whitelisted outside companies who will serve as network validators. Looking ahead at the final two stages, the exchange aims to roll out its public testnet in July before a full launch in September.

During this private testnet, DYDX will focus on the creation of validators and performing network upgrades.
