Wall Street’s Backbone Goes Onchain
On October 28, 2026, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the central organization responsible for the settlement and clearing of trillions of transactions in US securities every day, launched its Tokenization Service.
The DTCC Tokenization Service is now live, and this is only the beginning.

This service will cover 25 types of security initially, including US stocks, ETFs and Treasuries. Each token represents a digital copy of a security already held at the Depository Trust Company (DTC).
Canton, Besu & Multi-chain Roadmap
At launch, the service runs on the Canton Network, a public blockchain, and DTCC’s own private Hyperledger Besu network. Stellar and Circle’s Arc are lined up for 2027.

Tokenized securities are backed by the same CUSIP codes, investment rights and protections. They continue to be maintained in the official books and records of DTC. Token transfers can be settled 24/7 and conversion to/from traditional can be done in less than 15 minutes during business hours.
Production-tested By Institutional Giants
DTCC had already stress-tested the rails. Over 30 firms including BlackRock, Citadel Securities, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Nasdaq and Vanguard executed live production transactions on a range of collateral pledging, securities lending, US Treasury repo, delivery versus payment and margin business processes on 15 July 2026. The initiative was developed by a working group of over 100 firms.
Three-year SEC Backing
The basis for the regulation was laid in December 2025, with the SEC granting DTC a 3-year no-action letter to allow the tokenization of Russell 1000 stocks, major index ETFs and US Treasuries. This has been planned to be built out further including settlement, collateral management, netting, digital cash solutions and a wider range of corporate actions going forward.
