Cisco Brings AI Features To Online Meetings

Cisco, the digital communications corporation, has introduced additional summarization capabilities in its Webex online conferencing software. This development comes at a time when technology titans are competing to incorporate generative AI into their goods and services. Cisco intends to boost staff efficiency by integrating large language models across its Collaboration and Security portfolios. The statement was made during the ongoing Cisco Live event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cisco has launched “Catch Me Up” in Webex, its online conferencing software, allowing users to rapidly catch up on missed interactions such as meetings, calls, and chats. These summaries will cover essential points and action items, which will save time for individuals who were unable to attend the meeting. Cisco is also incorporating summaries into Vidcast, their video messaging platform, to deliver highlights and chapters for quick navigating to crucial parts of the video.

Webex’s recap function is similar to Microsoft Teams’ GPT-powered recap and Google Meet’s summary tool. Furthermore, Cisco is investing in AI and machine learning advancements to improve security, such as generative AI capabilities to simplify policy management and improve threat response.
