Bulgaria’s Postbank is preparing to expand its mobile banking application with investment options that reportedly include cryptocurrencies, stocks, exchange-traded funds, commodities & precious metals. The integrated investment functionality is planned for early 2027, according to the reported announcement.
The proposed service would allow customers to access investments in international companies alongside other asset classes through the Postbank App. This would expand the application beyond everyday banking transactions, bringing a broader range of financial services into one digital platform.

Banking App To Offer Broader Investment Access
The offering is also expected to support fractional investing in selected assets. Fractional investing consents customers to gain exposure without purchasing an entire share or investment unit, theoretically making some products more accessible to people with slighter budgets.
Adding cryptocurrency would give customers another asset category within the banking environment they already use. Instead of navigating separate platforms for banking & investments, customers could eventually manage a wider range of financial products through a single interface.
Banks Chase The Digital Investor
The initiative fits into the trend for financial institutions to broaden the range of services they provide, from basic banking to online investing. The move to electronic investing makes it difficult for banks to ignore an industry in which their competitors are becoming more prominent by the day.
Product Availability & Investment Risks Remain Key Considerations
However, the planned launch does not mean that every product is already available. The supported cryptocurrencies, investment terms, fees & customer eligibility requirements will depend on the final service arrangements.
Customers should also remember that access through a banking application does not remove investment risk. Cryptocurrency prices can be impulsive, while stocks, ETFs, commodities & precious metals can also experience losses. Fractional investing changes the scope of an investment, not the risk associated with it.
