Be Ready For New Laws, Work On AI: Amit Shah To Top Cops

Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged police and intelligence leaders to implement recently passed laws at the local level to reform the criminal justice system. Shah and IB Director Tapan Deka attended the National Security Strategy Conference.

Union home minister Amit Shah and Intelligence Bureau director Tapan Deka discussed the need for police officers to focus on AI and forensics to ensure speedy justice and constitutional rights. Shah also introduced three bills in Parliament to replace the British-era Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, aiming to “transform our criminal justice system.” The government’s efforts aim to improve the criminal justice system and protect citizens’ constitutional rights.

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 were introduced in Lok Sabha on the last day of the monsoon session. Shah emphasized the need for timely justice and constitutional rights for citizens. He urged top police leadership to transform their approach to dealing with internal security problems and emphasized the use of modern technology in policing. Shah also laid down a vision for revamping the entire criminal justice system, urging police officers to implement these laws at the grassroots level.
