1inch, a decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator, made its shared liquidity protocol, Aqua, available to customers on 13 chains that are compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machines.
Instead of distributing their assets across several pools, Aqua enables liquidity providers to use the same wallet balance across several positions; tokens stay in the provider’s wallet until a corresponding swap is executed.
Sergej Kunz, a co-founder of 1inch, told CoinDesk that the protocol enables “tokens to stay in your wallet, under your control, while one balance backs multiple positions across different strategies rather than being split between smart contract deposits.”
Liquidity providers: it’s time to wake up.
Use 1inch Aqua to find more activity in more markets, without letting your tokens out of your wallet.
Risk-controlled execution meets full self-custody.
No, you aren’t dreaming.
Here’s how it works:

According to 1inch, three positions stating a total of $300,000 may be supported with a $100,000 balance. Orders may only be executed against wallet assets, and a swap fails if the amount is insufficient to cover the quoted liquidity rather than more capital.
Aqua, together with its software development kit, libraries, and documentation, was initially introduced by 1inch last year. Users may construct full-range, focused, or pegged positions on many chains, including as Ethereum, Base, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Robinhood Chain, using the public interface.
The launch comes after research commissioned by 1inch revealed that in the first half of 2026, 85% of the $1.84 billion monitored across key concentrated-liquidity exchanges was unused.
In a typical week, almost $542 million sat completely outside of active trading areas, missing an estimated $150 million in annual fees.
Eight independent security audits were conducted on Aqua, according to 1inch. Price fluctuations, transient losses, and smart contract risk continue to be challenges for liquidity providers.
According to a release, the 1inch Foundation has committed 10 million 1INCH and the 1inch DAO has contributed $500,000 in USDC over a three-month period as part of a liquidity incentive scheme offered by Merkl.
The token component is currently valued at about $870,000, making the total program worth about $1.37 million.
