Kraken’s parent company is expanding its tokenized stock offerings to include companies outside the U.S., expecting that investors are interested in onchain access to global equities.
Payward, which developed the xStocks framework, told CoinDesk it is working with GTN to add Hong Kong-listed stocks to the platform. Stocks from the U.K., Europe, and South Korea are expected next, pending regulatory approval.
The company also said this partnership sets the stage for xStocks to expand into other types of tokenized assets beyond equities.

“The biggest asset class that hasn’t been tokenized yet is the rest of the world,” Mark Greenberg, global head of Payward Services, said in a statement. “One asset at a time, we’re bringing truly global capital markets onchain until geography becomes irrelevant to investing.”
This move comes as competition heats up in tokenized equities, with both crypto companies and Wall Street firms working to bring stock trading onchain.
Earlier this month, Robinhood (HOOD) expanded its tokenized stock offering beyond European users, and Coinbase (COIN) is also planning to offer stock tokens. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the cornerstone of the American securities markets, has begun testing tokenized securities infrastructure, while Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange have also started tokenization initiatives.
This tendency reflects a rising belief that tokenization, converting traditional assets into tokens based on blockchain technology, could improve capital markets by enabling 24/7 trade, speeding up settlement, and increasing asset mobility. By 2030, the market for tokenized assets could reach $5.5 trillion, with $2.6 trillion in tokenized stocks, according to Citi.
