BNB Chain is developing a new layer-1 blockchain for high-frequency trading and autonomous AI agents. The mainnet debut is scheduled for early 2027, with a public testnet anticipated by late 2026. Instead than replacing the existing BNB Chain, this new network will work in tandem with it.

It aims to handle over 100,000 transactions per second, confirm transactions in less than 50 milliseconds, and settle transactions in less than a second. Reducing latency, eliminating front-running, and assisting AI-powered applications that are capable of trading and processing transactions independently are further goals of the project.

BNB Chain’s next major initiative to improve on-chain performance for sophisticated financial applications is this new blockchain. The new network is intended for jobs that need extremely quick execution, such as algorithmic trading, automated market making, and AI-powered financial agents; the existing BNB Smart Chain already has a value of about $5 billion.

Eliminating the conventional public mempool is a significant move. Transactions will go directly to the block leader instead of being displayed to everyone. According to BNB Chain, this will reduce latency and assist in preventing front-running, a practice in which traders profit from visible pending transactions.

The network’s technological strategy focuses on speeding up execution rather than merely enhancing consensus. Even with improved consensus and storage, blockchain execution engines remain inefficient, according to David Z, Chief Technical Officer of BNB Chain. The new chain will address this by implementing execution-layer improvements like strength reduction, which replaces sluggish operations with quicker ones, and just-in-time compilation, which compiles smart contract code as it operates.

The blockchain will provide functionality for developers and institutional users in addition to performance improvements. These include built-in privacy, account abstraction, gas sponsorship, transaction batching, scheduled execution, passkey signing, and blockspace set aside for oracles, liquidations, and cross-chain bridges.

This initiative also demonstrates the growing interest in autonomous AI bots that are capable of using blockchain apps, trading, and making payments. Faster blockchain networks are becoming more and more necessary as more businesses develop solutions for AI-powered financial services.

Furthermore, BNB Chain is researching quantum-resistant security, which would enable users to transition to quantum-safe security without interfering with current decentralized applications or changing wallet addresses. This shows the network’s long-term security priority, even though it is presently being looked at.
