Crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), which owns the New York Stock Exchange, have announced a joint venture to connect traditional financial markets with blockchain assets. Led by former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the project aims to build regulated infrastructure that allows investors to access both traditional and tokenized financial products in one place.
The venture plans to operate as a registered broker-dealer and futures commission merchant, pending regulatory approval. It will give OKX’s global users access to ICE futures products and future tokenized equity markets connected to the NYSE.
ICE and OKX first signalled deeper cooperation earlier this year through partnerships involving tokenized stocks and crypto derivatives. ICE also made a strategic investment in the exchange, highlighting growing institutional interest in blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
Andrew Cuomo described the partnership as an example of how innovation and regulation can work together to modernize financial markets. Supporters argue that tokenization could make financial assets more accessible, transparent and efficient by enabling faster settlement and broader investor participation.
For ICE, the initiative represents another major step into the digital asset sector. The company has previously supported crypto-focused ventures including Bakkt and has expanded its investments in blockchain-related businesses in recent years.
The collaboration arrives at a time when financial institutions around the world are increasingly exploring tokenized securities. Major banks, exchanges and asset managers have begun testing blockchain technology to improve settlement processes and reduce operational costs.
If approved by regulators, the venture could become one of the most significant attempts yet to merge traditional market infrastructure with blockchain-based financial services on a large scale.
