- Ripple is adding Stripe-owned Privy wallets to the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to help with AI-powered crypto payments.
- The addition helps with payments using XRP, RLUSD, and other assets that are created on the network.
- The x402 payment standard makes it possible for AI agents to pay for services and data on their own.
Ripple, a blockchain payments business, is collaborating with Privy, a Stripe-owned wallet infrastructure provider, to expand AI-powered payments on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). It will be simpler for users and AI agents to keep digital assets and transmit payments without having to manage wallet software themselves because of the integration, which will help developers to incorporate cryptocurrency wallets straight into their apps.
Broadening access to XRPL, from everyday payments to agentic commerce.
We’re partnering with @privy_io, a Stripe company, to bring embedded wallets to the XRP Ledger. Developers will be able to build payment experiences with XRP, RLUSD and other digital assets on XRPL directly into their products, without requiring users to manage their own keys.
The integration will also enable agentic commerce through programmable wallets that let AI agents hold funds and transact, including through x402 payments.
Built for payments, XRPL is already powering the next wave of commerce. To date, it has processed 13M agent payments, which now account for roughly 25% of network activity.

The statement states that transactions involving XRP, the cryptocurrency used on the XRP Ledger, Ripple’s dollar-pegged stablecoin RLUSD, and other assets issued on the network would be supported via the integration.
Ripple Advances Autonomous Payments With XRP & RLUSD
Privy lets developers add crypto wallets to their apps without having to build the wallet infrastructure from the ground up. Users get control over their wallets by being able to export their keys or recovery phrases. This means they can move their wallets to platforms easily, giving them more freedom and flexibility.

The integration also brings opportunities for AI agents that need to pay for data or other online services. Using the x402 payment standard, an AI agent can receive a payment request, approve the transaction, and access the service once the payment is confirmed. This process happens automatically.
With this setup, AI agents can make payments on their own. They don’t need users to step in and approve each transaction manually. It gives agents independence and makes automated processes smoother.
XRP Ledger AI Payments Surpass 14 Million Transactions
The integration comes as AI-related payment activity on the XRP Ledger continues to grow.
RippleX Head of Engineering J. Ayo Akinyele said on X last week that the network had processed more than 13 million agent payments through x402, accounting for roughly 25% of ledger activity.
Meanwhile, data from the XRPL AI Hub, operated by payment infrastructure developer t54, showed more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants as of Wednesday.
However, the transaction count does not tell the whole story. The dashboard recorded approximately 6,991 XRP and 12,752 RLUSD in cumulative payments. This suggests that many transactions involve small amounts rather than large transfers.
XRP Ledger Wallets Still Require Initial Funding
Ripple has been developing tools for AI-driven payments since June. In September, it expanded its toolkit to support a payment standard developed by Stripe and payments blockchain Tempo, including a way to fund repeated requests with XRP.
The latest announcement outlines plans for further improvements, including spending controls and tools to cover network fees.
However, new XRP Ledger accounts must receive a minimum reserve of 1 XRP before they can become active, according to Privy’s documentation. This means someone must fund the account even if the application primarily uses RLUSD for payments.
