Elon Musk-owned platform X is preparing to launch Smart Cashtags, a feature aimed at bringing real-time market data directly into social posts.
Set for a public launch in February 2026, Smart Cashtags expand on the existing $TICKER system. Users will be able to tap a cashtag to see live prices, related news, and ongoing discussions around a stock or crypto asset.
The feature may also link crypto cashtags to smart contracts, offering near real-time on-chain data. Preview images show everything from traditional stocks like Berkshire Hathaway to crypto tokens such as BONK.
The update fits Musk’s vision of turning X into an “everything app.” Internal testing is ongoing, with user feedback expected to shape the final rollout.
